    • I'm glad the teacher isn't helping you. S/he probably thinks you should invite the whole class and if you're not, you figure out how to exclude others because she's not going to facilitate excluding classmates. I totally agree with the teacher.

      • this is ridiculous. this is the perfect example of why parties are out of control. op - invite who you want. I certainly don't want my dcs to be invited to every party of every child in their class. That'd be over 30 bday parties a year.

        • ita - but you should keep the invites low so no one gets hurt. i went to a b'day party on sat and there was only 1 other girl from class.

      • i totally and completely disagree. it's not the teacher's role to start dictating out of class activities. the school should either give out class lists or needs to have a policy where this information is not given out.

      • Why do we have to invite everyone if we don't want a big party? Why can't we say to our kid, "You can't have a huge party for your fifth birthday." But still recognize the day with some close friends.

        • OR: if these friends are close enough for a small b-day party, then you should already have contact info. Teacher should not be required to facilitate exclusion and cliques.

          • yes, cliques with 3yo...clearly you've had your feelings hurt before because your dc was excluded from a party. don't be...we jusst want to keep parties enjoyable and not out of control.

          • np: my dd is in kindergarten and has good friends from school that i've never met and i've never met their parents. i don't know anything about them, including where htey live. she is in school a full day so we never invite friends after school. on weekends she plays with kids on my block. so she has good friends from school whose contact info i don't have.
