how long do you cio naps. i know he's exhausted. he's only 4.5 mo

Day 2, let him cry a few minutes longer, then pick up if he doesn't fall asleep. Day 3, a few minutes longer. Don't go longer than 20 minutes, but I'm guessing that he'll have started falling asleep on his own by then. Once you've gotten it down for one nap, start the process for his other naps. It's slow, but it works.

It's a gray line -- sometimes they go back and forth between the two. And the point is that you're doing it for a very short time, not indefinitely. The idea here is that sometimes a baby is so exhausted that he needs to cry for a few minutes, and nothing else will calm him anyway. Obviously, if that's not working, you pick the kid up. That's why I said I wouldn't do CIO.

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
