How good a sign is it that although my 2.10 yr old DS has delays (mainly in speech, play, and social skills), he is cognitively typical and already has pre-academic skills of a 3.5-4.0 yr old? I'm trying to stay hopeful for his future, so trust me, this is in no way a brag...just trying to hope there is a silver lining through all of this for him. TIA.

some aspies think it's relevant as well--the ones who think Einstein was spectrum (I don't htink that)
[ Reply | Options ]NP: I actually do think Einstein was spectrum...though no idea what actual condition
[ Reply | Options ]It's a myth though. Einstein spoke at two. When his little sister was born he asked "where are the wheels?" He was a top student. The myth started while he was still alive and he refuted it. His sixth grade teacher was still alive when the rumors began and she refuted it. The rumor began because in the family babies all spoke early and he didn't.

OP, have you seen a dev ped? If not, I would make an appointment with one ASAP. It is the best way to get a better sense of what's going on.

UrbanBaby Asks...
When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
