  • OKay i just checked out youbemom which is like old UB, but there is no SN board :(

      • i'm staying here- i'm not into the tone there, i know the design is familiar to say the least, but i like this better now that i'm used to it. it's maddening that this is splintering us.

          • you find this babycenterish? i don't really. but i feel like babycenter is so hard to get any feel for becuase of the style of the boards, so static feeling. if babycenter moms were in a chat environment, they might be a lot more like ub moms than we think.

            • I used to read the Babycenter SN boards at the very beginning but I could not connect with any of the moms. Most of them were rural and their services sucked and none had sen dev peds and I didn't have much in common with them.

              • ah, i see. but i'm guessing UB is never going to pick up many rural moms, if only cause of the name. though might be good for us in some ways to get some more diverse perspectives on here some days.

              • I only read the SN board here and have for years - Toddler is too mean and there's always someone who posts with a Q about child development or worry about their kid, and I feel compelled to weigh in, and am usually flamed for, say, "believing in" sensory issues.

                  • I would say in fact that a majority of SN moms reads only this board. Which is why we are the most vocal when there are mass postings. I think a number of NY Schools posters do the same.

        • I don't know if it's splintering us. SN on youbemom is still very very slow. But a few more posts like last night's SN school application thread and I may leave this place for good - it's just too damn painful.

        • Yes, but also people posting SN queries to multiple boards to try to get a wider perspective and then we get non-SN parents weighing in, not to good effect (to put it lightly), and can't get the replies out of our board and can't collapse the threads!

          • ah. yeah, that sucks. but arean't the sn posters realizing that they don't want the broader perspective and starting to only post to SN? i see why teh cross posting can be problematic, but it also seems cool- if you have an inssue that relates to a few categories

            • I hope so - I really do! It was SO much better when you could only post to one board. All we needed was the board stamp to be on permanently, but this way we're more vulnerable to non-SN parents. I don't think people are using the x-posting capability well.

            • ohh, i just realized, it might not even be a case of a SN poster posting to a lot of boards, but people reading all the boards adn not noting that they're replying to an SN post. but that must have been an issue before too, no?

              • That was always an issue, esp because people didn't have their board stamps turned on. What I've been seeing in the last few days is people thinking that posting to SN as well as several other boards will get them more info, but what it gets them is more uninformed and hurtful posts from NT parents. Unfortunately each new poster has to learn that for herself. By the time the post is made it's too late and WE CAN'T COLLAPSE which is so awful - I hope they fix that soon.
