Repost, and long, so sorry if you already read it. SO Pissed. Please help me. I just got the third note home this year in my 5 yo ds' lunchbox from his admittedly experienced but childless prek teacher. he is there from 8:30-5:30, so I pack a big lunch with a lot of choices. today, I packed the following: pbj on whole wheat. grapes. pirates booty. an apple. cheeto type of a deal. pretzels. yogurt. cheese stick. cinnamon dried apple slices. he drinks water. everything was organic, low sugar, and from the whole foods place. they like us to include fresh veggies, but i stopped after throwing them away uneaten every day for 6 mos. so that was missing. i received this note: "i noticed ds consistenly has 3 crackery type items in his lunch with little nutritional value. could you have him choose one to bring?" i have also received a note chiding me for not reusing the ziploc bags and not providing him with raw cauliflower which he supposedly requested (he doesn't even know what it is), and another one that chided me for providing 'too many grains'. this is a boy in perfect health (2 colds this yr) who is very athletic and ate sole, black beans and broccoli for dinner last night. I really do.not.need this woman telling me how to pack a freakin lunch for my kid. Please help me compose a response, bearing in mind that my dd will be at this school for 2 yrs. THANKS!

ignore her, the school year is almost over. (but I actually agree with her that it's odd that you would send Pirate Booty AND Cheetos in the same lunch box. Maybe that's all he wants to eat if you give him those choices? Also, what school let's you send peanut butter these days (wish mine would, but can't)

Thank you for your concern. As Im sure you have noticed I pack a variety of foods for ds so that he has a variety to choose from as he is in school all day. It is not practical to have him choose his snacks for the day first thing in the morning. I do not expect that he will consume every item I pack for him. I would like you to continue to provide him with the choices I have packed. I put thought into packing him a variety of healthy snacks, as Im sure you have noticed. He enjoys a variety of healthy foods every day, which includes grains, fruits and vegetables. Again, thanks for your concern.
[ Reply | Options ]this is great. op here. it really pisses me off. none of our family struggles with weight, we are extremely active, we have great teeth, his behavior is good... WTF!!!!! it's not like he's displaying any of the hall marks of a kid needing a nutrition intervention! We homemake all of our dinners from scratch for crissakes!!

UrbanBaby Asks...
When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
