  • dd, age 2.5, went to bed at 7:30. At 7:45, she took off her pull-up, pooped on her rug, played in it, ground it into the rug and her nightgown. Since that time, she refuses to put on any clothes and has peed on her floor 3 more times. She thinks this is hilarious. I'm trying to be low-key about it, but my other kids NEVER did this. Advice???

    • What the HECK? Why would you be lowkey about this? I would have been very strict about it and and made it clear i was very upset and it was completely unacceptable. that is disgusting.

      • OP: but she wants attention and excitement! I told her it was gross and yucky, and she couldn't wear her nice nighty because it had poop on it. But I didn't scream and yell. I can't make her keep the pullup on unless I hold it on her until she falls asleep.

    • I'm so sorry! Is she just in a hard stage right now? Is this completely out of character? I think you need to be strict, but if she can get her pjs and diaper off herself, it will be hard to do. Lots of yelling??

      • OP: she can take off her clothes and pullup. I feel like I AM pretty strict - my other kids never, ever did this. I don't think there's something cognitively "wrong" with her - she's pushing buttons and she hit a good one.

        • or-I'm not sure what punishment you can use at night, but I would use a very firm, loud, mean voice. Use the mean strong voice that will scare a kid out of walking into traffic. Maybe even time outs if she's awake and bouncing off the walls.
