On The Insider: Winona Ryder Hospitalized in London

  • Completely lost it on 4.5yo before we left for school. I feel so horrible and said some not such nice things. I need ways to stop before I say mean things..ANyone out there do something that helped them with this?

    • sounds lame, but when I went through a rough stage, I'd try to force myself to stop and count to 10. I totally understand how it feels to just lose it.

    • I have done this and i always make sure to apologize and explain why I shouldn't have done that. I've got better at it - just take a deep breath and do the opposite, speak softly and slowly that has helped in some instances. It's tough, I know, I have three 4.5 y.o.s

    • Someone posted on here once that when she feels herself 'losing it', she parents as if someone is following her with a TV camera. Puts her on her 'best behavior'. I've actually tried it a few times and it helps. Sounds corny, but it helps.
