  • My ILs live about 1000 miles away and haven't been to visit DCs (FIL's only grandkids) in over a year. DH just informed me that they're coming out next month for a weekend...but they'll want to do some sightseeing and see a show. Go ahead and flame me, but I'm irritated.

    • I get why you are irritated. They are coming for themselves and not to spend time with their grandkids

      • OP: No, we live in Brooklyn, they'll stay in Manhattan (probably near Times Square) and show up maybe for an hour on Sunday.

    • Don't be that irritated. If I were traveling 1k miles away, I'd also want to do some sightseeing, etc.

    • I'll top that - my father and his wife visit NY from FL once a year (they travel the world the rest of the time). When they come they pencil us into their schedule with the rest of their friends. We get a two hour slot!!! They travel every where but don't come to ny for things like the birth of my sister's baby or other milestone events.
