Any sahm's on who volunteer a lot at dc's school? Is your family supportive of it? DH is, but my MIL always remarks on how I am "taking time away" from my family and how she never did volunteer work when dh was growing up because she felt like it was all "career girls" trying to "prove something."

wow, nasty MIL - not really her place to comment. heaven forbid you don't spend every waking and sleeping moment with dc. does she think your dh is taking time away from his family by working? when not at work does he spend every waking and sleeping moment with dc?
[ Reply | Options ]I think she believes that I should focus mostly on dh and the kids. She does not understand that I believe that I am making my family's life better by volunteering (kids go to public school and it is fabulous, but only bc the parents are so active)
[ Reply | Options ]you know, even if you were just doing it for yourself, that would be okay. she got to raise her family the way she wanted, now you and dh raise your family the way you want. I would tell her that you understand where she is coming from but you are doing what is best for your family and would appreciate it if she didn't bring it up again.

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
