  • 4 yo ds doesn't seem to like himself - he said he didn't and says yuck when he sees a photo of himself. He has a hard time making friends because he gets mad easily and isn't particularly friendly. Not sure what I should do ---

        • poor baby! have you talked to him about why? maybe invite some kids over for really structured play dates, get him involved in a group activity like karate or soccer?

        • np: kids say weird stuff, so if he says it once or twice I wouldn't worry, but if he says it often and it seems to be affecting his ability to make friends and his self esteem, I'd consult a phychologist.

        • I asked her why she says this and she said "Because I want to be a grown up". She is very sensitive, comes home and cries to me when someone says "I'm not your friend"

          • I hate that so much. I kills me - this is one of my fears because he really isn't easy to be friends with sometimes. Not sure what to do - help him develop some social skills a little?

    • model the behavior your are looking for. Show him how to act, praise him, give him responsibility that he can be proud of.
