  • i see so many posts that seem like everyone is doing great financially. are there any of you out there struggling? i live paycheck to paycheck and really have to budget. seems like everyone here is wealthy!

    • yes, me! I was just at the grocery store and so depressed to see bananas at .79/pound and a bag of oranges was $7. It's really scary.

      • ^^lately I've been cooking at home more (no take out/pizzas). Trying to stay out of stores. walk/bike to work rather than drive. I really don't know how to cut anything else out. I don't do manis/starbucks as it is. Have a tracphone.

    • i'm not necessarily "struggling", but we don't have any real savings and no assets (car, house, etc.)...we definitely have to wait for paychecks to come through before paying our bills

      • ^ not along the lines of can't afford a personal chef but along the lines of having trouble finding room in the budget to account for the increase in gas.

    • keep in mind that on this board, someone may consider it 'struggling' if they can't afford a place in the hamptons or a personal chef. there are some very wealthy people here-not a true rep of the city or anywhere else, obviously

    • We have a budget. It could be a struggle but we planned it out so I could stay home with DD and DH work. We need to be careful but are fine. We save a little and don't waste $, some but not a lot.

    • best thing we did was journal our spending for a month, both of you have to write down every penny. It's pretty eye-opening, particularly the extras that you don't even realize
