  • Please, Dear DOE, let my two dcs get into the same school. One applying for K, the other for 1st grade. make the right decision, and let sibs applying at the same time have sib preference. don't make us split our kids, only to have access to the sib po icy once there are no spots. both made the citywide cutoff, btw. look on the bright side. if you place them now, you won't have one more dc to test and place next year. multiply that by all the families with more than one kid applying this year for G&T. Thank you.

    • GL! I hope they are listening. It makes sense. We are benefitting from the sib policy this year. hope you can too!

    • know two sets of twins with this issue. since it is by lottery anyway, and a sib policy exists, I think they should be linked in the system, and go to whichever school comes up on their list first.

      • yes, and it won't make that big a dent in the system overall.

        • nope, and it is fine if they place both kids to the lower scoring sibling's school.

          • why lower scoring? no other sibs in the system have that requirement. what if they have the same score?

          • np: why would you advocate for this? sib policy means anyone who made the cutoff. not sure why punishing sibs would make you feel better.

            • I misspoke, I meant a twin with 99 should not be able to get a twin with 92 into Anderson, but that would never happen since you need 97. So if the other sibling got a 97, I think it's fine to give him/her preference.

              • oh, I see. agree. but if one made citywide and the other made district wide, then the family could choose to split or not by ranking in the same order or not
