Then you can't have this discussion. It is an outstanding place to visit, I agree. But living there is very different, especially coming from Manhattan.

It is so hard to describe. It is such a seemingly western city, yet, everything kind of moves on its own time. The English really dislike Americans. (I am married to an Englishman, fwiw). So much of it is so shoddy and unappealling. The tourist sites are great.
[ Reply | Options ]np. so true about disliking Americans. I'm not American but lived there for a while and in England I would hear people saying the most awful things about Americans. Not political disagreements, but just really rude stereotypes.
[ Reply | Options ]OR I'm a brit and lived in London for 10 yrs before moving to US. Having lived in the US for 7 years now, I can tell you that going back is like going to third world country. You need SO MUCH MONEY to live a nice decent lifestyle. My firends live in dump and have no money for anything. That being said, I would go back in a heartbeat if I had tons of cash becuase it's awesome in many ways.
