  • I kind of like the clothing allowance idea. I think I'll give my dd a certain budget per season and tell her it has to cover a certain number of pants, tops, etc and let her decide how to distribute it.

    • how old is she? what i do w/ my 13 yo is buy what he needs and when he chooses abercrombie that is not on sale, he has to put in a little of his own money.

      • NP: It's a tough balance. You don't want them to become materialistic and think the value of money is bigger than it is, but it is crazy that massive credit card debt is some kind of rite of passage for recent grads.

    • My mom did this with us. We could spend 200 dollars at the beginning of the year for clothes. She would also have to approve though...
