parenting is all about marketing. I'm telling you, any SAHM should be able to get a great job in advertising after. we prob have more experience with someone with changing needs and viewpoints than anyone else.
[ Reply | Options ]LOL, never thought it that way. I do need a career change when they go off to school

clearly you don't get the joke. perhaps too worried and wound up abt other things?
[ Reply | Options ]nah. would love to see you come into a big ad agency for an interview though and say "qualifications? well, I can get my kid to eat new foods!"
[ Reply | Options ]well, clearly i woudln't do that. bc... as i said, it's all about marketing. but i'm sure with the right interviewer, you could make a joke like that and have it go over well. it's about knowing your audience and what to say to that audience. right? n settle down. marketing is not neuroscience. it's not that important.
[ Reply | Options ]never said it was impt., just said it wasn't simple. good luck with your new career as a top marketing exec.

maybe so. i always defend SAHMs when WOHMs call them "simple" or imply they are not worthy. I think it's a really tough job in many respects (I do it too when I'm not at work PT). Just felt a little disrespected that you think the WOH world is so simp
[ Reply | Options ]i didn't say the WOH world is simple. at least no more simple than SAH. there are just different challenges. but there is a fair amount of crossover too. people don't see it. this whole thing started with my joking that life with toddlers is all about m marketing. it's a joke dh and i have. and every other parent I know, dhs dws, working or not, totally agree. but this did start as a joke. one that you took very seriously (assuming you're the originally Marketing Mom). Fwiw, i have done SAH, WAH and WOH. None are easy. And I don't believe any work is "simple."
[ Reply | Options ]Again, you took it way too seriously. It was lighthearted. I'm sure the OR did not mean that any of us could get a job in marketing with only SAHM on our resume!

thanks. i'll stick with the one i have. far more fun. i make my own hours so i can hang with dd when she gets back from school. and i have to market myself. which i do. altho once i start making a bit mor emoney from it, i'll hire someone else to do it r me. i have someon epicked out. an ex-SAHM i met thru UB who is running her own marketing firm.

It took me 6 years to figure this out. I let her pick a vegetable at the store and guess what - she LIKES those. But only if SHE picked it.
