        does violence in other places normally scare you? how about violence in moscow? trust me, you are not likely to wander into the areas where the violence happens.

    - np- of those choices, i think i would pick wilmette. closer to the lake, good schools and a good friend of mine (super wonderful person) grew up there.

      - better choices? we are pretty open on where to move, I'm pushing for staying in the city. but our budget is $1.25 or so and we are having a hard time finding a house that feels like "home" in the city

        my hood too. there is a new house on school between damen and wolcott that is listed for $1.5 million (4 brs. upstairs) that you may want to check out. i am sure you can get them down in this environment.

        Not at all comparable. Granted, people can be cliquish and insular anywhere, but any of those area includes dense area of rental properties and far less reliance on a car. You do not see the same folk day after day (unless you choose to).
