Pet moms: Help!! Just brought a new cat home today. I'd prepared a kitty bed in the hall bath with a litter box and food/water (I thought she'd feel safer the first night in an enclosed space), but when I opened the door she streaked out and is now hiding behind two big bookcases. I'm afraid that if I leave her there overnight she won't be able to find her water or litter box, but that if I get her out somehow I'll just scare her more. WWYD????

- as long as you showed the cat where the food/litter is, she should be fine where she is. let her come out on her own

- She needed a bigger space than just a hall bathroom. Do you have a spare bedroom you can put her in? We shared our bedroom with 2 kittens for the first month. If you can't grab her tonight, don't worry, she will find her water and litter box. They always do.

  - OP: from a shelter on the Lower East Side. She's a sweet cat but is VERY shy and sensitive. I just don't know how best to make her comfortable.

        a week or so before she seemed to really come out of shell. its pretty common since shelters are stressful anyway, then they have no idea which end is up when they arrive at their new home. enjoy!

  - sorry mama, our kitty friend just was put to sleep this weekend too (not ours but we took care of him a lot). they are fun and funny, I am sure you all had some great times.
