  • Poll: Does your school aged kid send thank you notes to friends for gifts given at birthday party? Trying to get my 6yo to write them is torture, but I believe it's the right thing to do.

    • 6 is a good age to get the fill in the blank notes. or you could write them and let him/her write only the friend's name and his/her own name

    • Yes. In preschool and prek I would write them and she would sign her name. Now in K and 2nd grade they write them and address them.

    • absolutely. But I write a formula for him to follow: "Dear____, Thank you for the _____. I love it. It was great to have you at my party. Thanks for coming! From, _____" He copies for each one.

    • you have to remember that 6 y.o.s differ greatly in their ability to write. my oldest fatigued easily and really struggled w/handwriting. my 2nd can whip out notes no prob. individualize according to your child's ability
