Is anyone here afraid of what's happened to this country over the past 10 years? I love so much of our history but I now feel so alienated. Like I have nothing in common with anyone outside of New york, LA and a couple college towns in between. What e er happened to freedom of expression? the frontier? The melting pot? Now I feel like we're a bunch of religious neo-nazis. Or at least heading in that direction. Anyone else? Not being melodramatic either. I'm really worried.

[ Reply | Options ]op: Hey - tell me I'm wrong. Tell me that where you live is chock full of well educated, liberal, open-minded people who live and let live. Then I'll move there because it would be a hulluva lot cheaper. I've traveled a alot including domestically e extensively for work. I wish I were just getting this from TV. Let's start with UB. I'm just guessing that these antisemetic, racist religious freaks don't live in apartment 9B next door, Just a hunch.
[ Reply | Options ]I will tell you that you are wrong. I lived in Manhattan for ten years and I also have friends who don't live in NYC, and some of my most liberal friends live OUTSIDE of the city. There is definitely an elitism of the City that clouds people's ability t see their own prejudices and closed-mindedness.
[ Reply | Options ]forget it OP - americans are such a nation of cheerleaders that they cannot fathom that good american should be critical - come to canada friend :) - i told you you would get gutted

[ Reply | Options ]well, you are wrong for the most part. If you actually went to many "flyover" states you would meet a fair amount of like minded people

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
