  • I was post from earlier re: Teacher Appreciation Week. Sorry I had to tend to crying 18mo. But I am curious. How many of your preschools have WEEK of this and how many bring gifts in for teacher. It's my dc's first year at preschool but I thought it see d a little excessive to bring in something small EVERY day. That's 2 teachers. Plus there are 4 Specialty teachers that we may or may not include. Am I nuts to think that is over the top?

    • way over the top. our pta is in charge of this kind of thing and do special treats for the teachers. families are not involved unless they choose to be.

    • We are in public K and it has not been mentioned. I think motessori is a little too controlling and this is a perfect example.

      • I love the school in every other way (well, more importantly my 4yo does. He LOVES rules.) But stuff like this I think is just silly. But maybe it's just a Manhattan thing (as opposed to a Montessori thing).

        • Its not a manhattan thing. It is so far over the rude line to demand a gift from a person as a thank you - and to dictate what theme the gift should be. Am I the only one who sees this?

            • The school has dictated that the children appreciate the teachers by bringing in a gift each day. And they tell them what theme for each day (sensory, math, language, cultural etc

              • OK. The request came from the administration and was not DEMANDING. Just staying how the teachers work hard and this is a way to thank them and they want to make it fun and amusing for everyone. I think the suggestions were just a way to turn it into a li ttle game. Some parents love this stuff, btw. I am just so bad with it all I kind of feel like it's a homework assignment.

    • I did a little gift ($1) for her 3 teachers for everyday. I am also bringing a cake and 2 fruit baskets for the teacher's lounge. I LOVE her teachers and her school. Plus I remember when I was little, my mom made a big deal of T.A. week.
