That is the big problem with constipation. that the longer the poop stays in the harder it gets. bad cycle. You have got to watch your dcs diet. Give warm prune juice, and a warm bath today. Sit with him and rub the bottom of his back while he tries to go. Find out why he is getting constipated (its something he is eating). No bananas, no rice, no toast. Give pear juice if he won't drink warm prune (most children will drink prune). And start looking at his diet and make changes.

This is kinda gross, but both of my kids struggle with constipation - but letting them poop in the tub works (or older dd will get into the tub and then jump out at the last minute when she's ready to pooop) the warm water helps...
[ Reply | Options ]If he has pooed in 6 days, you might want to give one square of ex-lax (chocolate flavored) to get dc going. It'll work in a few hours. Or try Miralax, which may take a day or two to get system flowing

My 3 yo was same due to pressures of potty training. Was on Miralax daily for 6 months, then weaned off.
