in hs, my boyfriends' parents thought i wasn't good enough for their sons and were so mean to me. my college bf's parents were the worst. DH's parents are such a god sent dream and treat me with such love that i have a difficult time being comfortable around them because it just all seems too good. never realized how scarring experience with previous ex's parents were... they were mostly issues about class (i grew up poor), race (i'm not white) and education (did not go to an ivy league).
