: We have a 1930's small cape - around 2200 square feet. How much would you gess it would cost to add on a 400 sq foot family room - something square and simple with lots of windows and hi ceilings/wood floors. If you had to guess?

        well, totally guessing and I think I'm off by a lot. You should probably get quotes from an actual contractor rather than some mom skulking around UB while dinner cooks ;)

        we just did something similar in westchester. two floors, 320 sf per floor. was about $180,000. and nothing fancy. lots of windows though, and cathedral ceiling on top floor.

That's good - I was thinking it would be more like 150 - 200K

well, totally guessing and I think I'm off by a lot. You should probably get quotes from an actual contractor rather than some mom skulking around UB while dinner cooks ;)
