If you were sexually abused as a child, how old were you? Did you recieve professional help?

op: because i think something happened between my ds and his same age cousin. i am completely and utterly devestated

op: yes i told him(after i pinky sweared not to) and yes he is my dh. he is horrified
[ Reply | Options ]as someone who's been through this as a kid, please try not to make your child feel like this is the worst thing in the world or shame him. there's no reason to suspect abuse of any kind from the information you've given so far.
[ Reply | Options ]op: i was very careful with every word i said. told him repeatedly that this may be normal. i am so afraid he or his cousin learned this from an abuser
[ Reply | Options ]there are very specific indicators of sexual abuse. i have a chart i wish i could send you, but i'm sure you can find it online if you google for child sexual abuse indicators. usually the behavior has to be unusual or advanced - something beyond wha kids pick up on TV or parents or come up with on their own - and in combination with other indicators.

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
