Ugh. So sick of this nanny stuff. Anyone have a line on where I can just buy a person?

This isn't about the nanny--it's about the people who have no problems approaching someone else's nanny with the intent to hire them away--it's just thoughtless. Put an ad on Craig'sList, and have some consideration for other parents.

I am. And I don't really have a dog in the nanny fight as I'm happy with my arrangements. But, I do think that the idea that nobody has possession of a nanny in their employ. Especially one that they can fire-at-will at any time.
[ Reply | Options ]That's not the point (and I don't have a nanny "in the fight" either--no nanny at all for a few years now). The point is parents having consideration for other parents...that's all. Of course the nanny is free to do as she wants.
[ Reply | Options ]Right. And I guess I just don't see any problem with someone approaching my nanny to offer her something that I am not currently. I wish the best for her and hope she gets everything she can out of employment situations. I don't think we disagree on substance as much as on the particulars. No biggie, right?

Funny, I just logged on here after having a whole talk with my nanny about how some people treat their nannies. Abysmal. She said that she personally feels that those who have the most are the cheapest, esp. the prof. dad/SAHM combination.

Depends, but she was basically saying that she thinks the relationship dynamic is often at play - father works long hours, barely sees or knows the nanny as a person, and is used to negotiating/bargaining at work and forces wife to do the same with hired hired help, basically push for the best deal

UrbanBaby Asks...
When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
