  • So basically this whole lottery business with 99's is like Hunter with no onsite. My ds is on teh w/l at Hunter and I fear that he will be one of the unlucky ones in the 99% lottery for Anderson. It is so sad to still be so worried that ds may not get to Anderson with a 99%. The DOE needs to take a long hard look at the programs and make many more programs like Anderson available to the children of NYC.

    • What about NEST, high-ranking district? I'm sorry, but I have a dc that has been tested as pg, and I would be happy with these options as well. Anderson is not the be all end all for gifted kids, and your child will survive and thrive at the other option .

          • ^^^ Remember if a boy moves off a w/l for a private school and takes it your DS could be next for H! Don't give up hope. BTW- my Dc scored 99 on SB but was dinged after Round 2. Then DC got 99 on all parts of the OLSAT/BSRA and now we are waiting. You a e in better circumstances than me. Keep the faith and GL!

    • No. The DOE needs to make the cutoff for ALL gifted programs 95 (which is what is REALLY the gifted cutoff). Those under that cutoff should be in gen ed. Problem solved.

        • Not so 'many' that NYC should have "many more programs like Anderson available" (OP's original post).

      • City wides cut off is 97%. That is what OP is referring to. The city wides are accelerated programs. 1 year ahead of grade level in math.District G&T is enriched program
