In public schools, are you guaranteed a right to speak to the principal of your dc's school? Our school is throwing up a bunch of roadblocks to getting an appt to meet with her. TIA!

We were made to talk to the Parent Coordinator first despite the fact that it was not really anything that she could help us with. We did that, and then the Parent Coordinator told us that we really don't need to meet with the principal. We are still going to, for our own peace of mind, but the front office is still trying to discourage us.
[ Reply | Options ]If it's a serious issue, I'd push it. Otherwise, I'd try to imagine what life would be like for the principal if every parent wanted a sit down meeting with here just "for peace of mind."
[ Reply | Options ]I am sympathetic to how busy she is, but this is our 6th year at this school between 2 dcs, and we have never asked to speak to anyone at the school before, so I don't think it's an unreasonable request. Also, we have been gritting our teeth all year about this and the situation has not improved. Not sure that speaking with her will really change anything, but I feel I need to do this to be an advocate for my child.

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
