  • A little "gifted" perspective: be glad your child isn't autistic, or have other special needs. Parents of those kids would probably kill for their child to be able attend any regular K.

    • As a mom of an autistic child, our autistic children can score very well on these tests as well, they do not tell the whole picture. And also, I think it is much more imp for the DOE to spend $ on my autistic child than my 99/99/99 ERB/SB/OLSAT child

      • didn't mean to suggest that autistic and other sn kids aren't also gifted, but even many who test gifted can't really thrive in any regular classroom. Agree that DOE should put more resources to SN than to G&T.

          • Oh C'mon, cut the crap. Why the taxpayers should subsidize someone whose "gifted"?? They'll do well eventually anyway

            • If you don't knoe anything about the issue, please get yourself educated first. Your ignorance is part of the reason why PG children face difficulties.

              • All kids face difficulties...get in line...your DC's difficulties are not more important

                • If it's not more important, it should be addressed at least as much as other problems instead of being ignored completely.

        • np Totally disagree. Depends on the number of kids in each category. The highest performers shouldn't be sacrificed for SN kids!

          • The highest performers aren't "sacrificed," and it shouldn't depend on the number of kids in each category. Ideally, ALL of our city's kids would get appropriate educations. But more resources should and are going to underperforming kids. G&T paren tend to donate more to make their programs better.

    • so? We all have things to be thankful for and things we wish we didn't have to deal with. Doesn't mean that you shouldn't get the best for your child
