oh please stop trying to turn the tide. You misused a word and tried to make an excuse for it. Just say I buy cheap clothing. Stop trying to sound hip
[ Reply | Options ]i didnt know there was one definition for a slang word but i will keep it in mind
[ Reply | Options ]you just didn't know what the word meant. I'm not sure who told you it meant cheap but they were way off
[ Reply | Options ]if a ghetto is a poor neighborhood wouldnt it be logical that ghetto clothing are cheap?
[ Reply | Options ]no it wouldn't because if you lived in the ghetto and spent time there, you would see that many ppl in the ghetto take lots of pride in the little they have. They save their pennies and buy expensive clothing

yes so do I but the way you understand the term ghetto is wrong. This is our point to you. Just don't use it..say I buy cheap clothing. When I grew up in the ghetto we didn't have much but the money I got from my part time job was to by myself designer othing. You buy things that you only dream of and wish to have. I outgrew this because I matured (I did this as a teen) but you have to understand why ppl get things that are $$$. Many times it's to feel like everyone else. To try and forget what you don't have. You strive for what you want and get it. Got it now?
[ Reply | Options ]interesting point, i''m a nurse who works with many projects, and i never understood this until now. in fact i guess i've always been pretty judgemental
[ Reply | Options ]well I hope I gave you some sort of insight into what goes on in the mind of many of us growing up poor. My parents worked their asses off but we still lived check to check. We didn't have much but the little we did, we always bought the best. My mom wou get us great clothing, great coats, ect. We never vacationed but I guess even though we were poor, she didn't want us to always think we couldn't have nice things.

I find the term offensive. If you ever lived in the ghetto and got out alive like I did, you might be offended too. I don't attack people for it, just bugs me.
[ Reply | Options ]Sweetie, you misused a word. Everyone disagrees with you. You're wrong. Get over it and stop defending yourself.
[ Reply | Options ]Again, the racism on this board can be overwhelming at times! Ghetto does not eqal poor, cheap, low quality. And just because you live in the ghetto does not mean you cannot afford clothing that isn't high quality. It's time you people woke up, and g out of your ignorance zones.

That 's the Problem!! It's not just this OP....this kind of thought has been goin on in more than a few posts. It's alarming the kinds of perceptions that people have about AA and other minorities. Everytime I think I'm overreacting I read somethin ke "Sean Bell isn't a racial issue" or "Black people blame whites for their problems" or "Obama's ex minister wants Obama to fail, so that Black people will always have a scape goat". Frankly it's sickening

UrbanBaby Asks...
When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
