  • repost from yesterday: Is this normal? Ever since I have been getting my period, I have never had any kind of mid cycle bleeding. I am on nuva ring --its in there just fine. I got my period yesterday mid cycle. Am on antibiotics. Not sure if that coul d make the BC not effective? its just pennicilin, they say that shouldnt effect? do i call GYN about this?

    • while it is probably just fine, the main concern with breakthrough bleeding is that it indicates that the hormones aren't strong enough for you. this is especially true if you're a larger woman (and the threshold of "larger" in terms of birth contro pretty low). Call your doctor to see.
