  • TMI (gross) My 2 yo ds has a boil on his butthole. Again. Any one else have this problem when their kid has a bout of diarrhea? Yes, I'm going to call the doctor, but I know they'll want to remove it surgically, and I want to know what to do in the meantime.

    • "remove it surgically?" If it's a boil, the most they'd do is lance it. keep clean and dry; if the child isn't toilet trained, leave the diaper off for as much time as possible, and use an antibiotic ointment on it. see if it gets better (likely will

      • OP: they say that when a boil is chronic, they have to go in and remove the sac. Which I have been avoiding for a year for obvious reasons. But thanks for the reminder about neosporin.
