I have a sinking feeling that the poster who suggested that my mentally disabled sister may have early signs of alzheimer's may be right. i'm terrified and sad. haven't even mentioned to other family members yet.

        in her case yes. she's at the point now where she can't control her bodily fluids and doesn't know who anyone is. she can barely walk at this point

- what sort of disability does your sister have? I recently found out that most people who have down's get alzheimer's.

  - she's mentally retarded, but it's not down's. was never clear what it was -- something to do with one extra, rather than one less chromosome(sp?)?

    - hm. well, of course you should have her evaluated by a neurologist. a lot of diseases present like alzheimers and many of them are curable. hope for the best.
