At our TT ongoing my closest group of mommy friends are other alums from that school. Why? Because the rest of the mothers are the SUV materialistic striver social climbing dress to impress to drop off a$$holes. Truth is, its the transplants that are the biggest a$$holes in this city, not natives. We don't have anything to prove so we don't worry about what we wear, what restaurant we go to, how much our ring cost. Vent over.

[ Reply | Options ]you are not getting the post, I don't hang with women who think their dcs school, their engageent ring whether they have a driver and wear they shop defines them. we would hang if you wanted/ I am saying the horrible people tend to be transplants on thw rle desperate to prove they are new yorkers. while the real Nyers stand around and wonder what the hell they think they should be aiming for. insnae

[ Reply | Options ]funny I posted something similar on the NY board the other day and got flamed (how all of NY is mostly transplants from areas people make fun of)...and then their are the natives, like yourself, who are equally annoying and full of themselves. I've come to the conclusion that manhattan is just full of people with swollen heads who all think they are better than anyone who lives elsewhere. This is why we are moving out of the city.

actually we have plenty of $$. DH and I grew up outside of manhattan, move to manhattan and became successful and are now leaving. I hope my kids do want to return one day and if they need our financial support to do so I will consider giving it to them. I mean you are right that we can't afford a fancy penthouse with a 2000 sq ft terrace, a driver and a home in the hamptons, but we can afford a nice house in a suburb with an excellent school system. I'm not convinced I'd want the former for my dcs anyway.

true true true. But that is the way of the world. When you don'thave a thing to prove, when you have been to the best schools, visitied the best the world has to offer, live in the center of the world like NYC why bother worrying about your jewelry

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
