i can't believe that I am going to an outback steakhouse in the city for dinner tonight to accomodate members of my husband's family who, apparantly, can't handle anything other than "basic, american" fare (it's also a location issue, but still!!!) I wouldn't even mind, really, if we were in the burbs and that was all there was, but there are tons of great places right in the area - and they're dysfunctional on top of this - help me!

My il's are lovely functional folks from a rural area. Dh and I are snobs. We practically pry them away from midtown and hard rock cafe to real cafes. I can tell they would prefer the huge chains though. Too bad. When in Rome....

I am a burb transplant and I swear the food in the chains in manhattan is actually worse than the same chain in the burbs. I've eaten at that Outback twice now and twice I've been served undercooked chicken
[ Reply | Options ]Have a drink and suck it up. It's easier for us to take my husband's hillbilly family to an outback which is relatively inexpensive than to waste significantly more money to have them be uncomfortable.

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
