I really can't stand people of my age group who are recently wealthy because their dh's work their asses off. Old money is so much more down to earth. new money is so boring and dull.

OP-so true, If you are of old money, you want nothing to do with new money, so boring. Have some personality behind your money for christ's sake!

[ Reply | Options ]Absolutely. The people where my parents bought a ski condo(we are not big $ at all) are some big $ people(own NFL teams etc). They are completely normal like us and can just hang and not pushing their material possesions to impress. Nice down to earth peo ple.

[ Reply | Options ]I know. I am not of old school big money, but my parents and grandparents did well enough. I was fortunate to enjoy a lot of things and know a lot of people. Unfortunately, I have an insecure brother is who we speak of, but I have two other brothers who aren't ugly in that sense. Funny thing is some of these people with more money than god live in rural places like the place I grew up...like the original coke people....NICE NICE NICE people. You would never know they were worth tons accept we have known them for 20 years. It's two different sets of personalities...those that need to prove and those that have no need to prove. It's quite refreshing.

ITA. Money is great wherever it comes from. Perhaps you are talking about class? Of which you could probably use a bit more of if you are being this rude to people because of how they live

We're surrounded by new money where we live and they think they're all that. But my friends with old money probably wouldn't hang with them...

- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
