Okay, so even if my dd got a 99 (mid-level), the odds of getting into PS9 are slim because it will be filled up with 90+ sibs? And she'll be shut out of Anderson because of the high 99s? So should we start trying to fall in love with 166? How is that school?

This is what I don't understand though. If it's scaled for age, then it's still a 99. So is that considered equivalent to a February birthday getting 38/40, 87/88?
[ Reply | Options ]I agree it shouldn't matter once the percentile is set but everyone here seems to put the birth month. It's all completely confusing to me. I just think that unless you have close to a perfect score, i.e., anything above a 38, you'll fall between the cracks. Too low for Anderson since I'm sure there will be more than enough sibs and high 99s to fill two class, and possibly meaningless for PS 9 since it will be filled with sibs. I'm overthinking it but just trying to play it out in my head. I'm just grateful to be even in the running at this point.
[ Reply | Options ]No, you're not overthinking it. I just did a few searches, and someone explained in a prior thread about scaled scores The poster claimed that the DOE will use scaled scores to break ties between kids. They did not provide the scaled score in the letter, so none of us knows what our kids' scaled scores are. Apparently the DOE will use a scaled scoring table provided by Harcourt, and this table takes birth month into account. If this is all true, then birth month does matter.

UrbanBaby Asks...
When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
