what's the word for something that's chosen at random, without any reasoning? starts with an A. please help me. my brain hurts.

op: no (although that definitely fits my definition). this is like, if you are talking about certain criteria for something and they don't seem to make sense for the situation. like they were just chosen by someone completely unrelated to the situatio i can't even really think of how to explain it. it is killing me that i can't think of the word. i hate that!!!!

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
