  • are there any pta and/or team moms around... i'm new to all that stuff this year.. and so far pretty disappointed in the level of commitment.. there are some smart savvy sahms in our area and they overcommit and underdeliver in most volunteer capacities is it just where i live, or is it like this everywhere? where's the pta like on weeds where there's power plays for hte presidency and people actually turn up for meetings? moms compete over who can provide the best snack? everyone does it half-assed around here..

    • me, but my school is pretty "normal" - no insane divas, cliques but not unbearable ones. People do step up after being asked, but they're not falling all over themselves to do stuff.

    • you obviously do not live in my neighborhood. pta is bloodsport at my kids' elem school. fades by middle school, high school, but still present.

    • you just described my pta to a t. I suspect that's the reality except in very wealthy communities full of sahms who used to have high level jobs. or maybe that's just the stereotype. pta is pretty dull and thankless.

      • this is basically my community.. more mid-level, not C- but nonetheless, they have the brains to at least run a meeting efficently, use some strategy in fundraising and actually implementing plans, etc.. but it's ridiculous how NOTHING gets accomplished.

      • i'm assummign beyond the power plays they are actually renovating playgrounds, actually remembering to bring teh heathly snack after the soccer game, caring enough to attend meetings,e tc
