    • I'd say yes - Mine is only 14.5 lbs and is small - he is 50% for heigh as well. Most of the other babies I know that are 5mo are 16+ lbs

    • op: I bf and supplement in the evening. I feel he can't compete with formula feed ones. I have a friend who baby was 100 % very big and was just f. feed. Not he is obese.

      • or with the 14.5 db. I bf and supplement as well due to poor supply. I just try to make sure db gets about 30 oz/day. We are going to start solids pretty soon.

          • I got really tired of trying to guess how much db was getting at the breast and stressing about his intake/weight gain. So, I started pumping instead of breastfeeding. I pump 6x/day and get anywhere from 2-4 oz. I supplement with formula for a total of 6oz/feed (or however much db is in the mood for). I am not recommending my strategy to you 9I'm pretty sure the la leche league would fron on me), but for me, this ensured db was getting enough food and still getting bm. I am much happier and less stressed out.

      • or here: why do you feel the need to compete with the other babies. my ped doesn't even tell us %. i'm happy not knowing. all that matter is that your db is healthy and gaining

        • op; I don't feel like competing. It is just stress at the doctors and then people comment that he is not that big, so I got a bit insecure. He is very healthy and that's why I want to keep him on the breast as much as possible.

          • i felt the same way as you did. but ped convinced me that 1. being bigger isn't better and 2. dd's growth is what's most important. at almost a year, dd is still only about 17 lbs. i ebf and she eats a ton of solids. she is gaining at her own speed try not to let what other people say. you know your db best. is ped concerned?
