  • Minivan moms: What do you love about your minivan? DH does not want one and says an SUV carries out the same function.

    • they do (meaning SUV's do the same), the only argument I have heard is the automatic doors. but c;'mon how hard is it to open a door

      • Its not automatic doors, its that they are sliders. My minivan is old and the doors are not automatic. Minivans easier to get in and out of, easier with the captain's seats, just, well, easier.

    • You DH is totally incorrect, I cannot explain to you why they are different. The minivan rides differently, sliders are SO much easier for the kids, more room inside, etc.

    • I don't have one, but minivans have more space inside and can much more comfortably seat more people (unless we're talking like one of those stretch suburban things)

    • don't have either, but considering same and the difference I see is that an SUV does not have sliding doors

      • Do a test drive of both choices, and you will see why IMHO a minivan is "better" for a family vehicle.

    • the third row is not usable in an SUV if you have 2 carseats in the 2nd row. (I suppose an exception would be an SUV w/ captain's seats). love the sliding doors - don't have to worry about kids banging it into other cars in parking lots.

      • ITA everytime I try to squeeze a kid into the back row or my little ones try to get in and out of an SUV its a PITA. Minivan easier.

        • PS especially if you are a smaller woman, the minivan just "works" better. Does that make sense?

    • Not true at all. The configuration inside a minivan is completely different.

    • I have both and they are different in surprising ways. More car-like ride, lower riding so easier to get in and out, better third row access, more room to transport cargo especially large items.

    • I wouldn't want a minivan with 2 dcs but w/ 3+ they're indispensable.

      • the thing with 2 dcs is they have friends. i love being able to have a playdate for each dc and still be able to fit everyone in the car
