WWYD? If you have a db that has a late birthday (late August), did you decide to enroll them into school? Did you prefer for them to be the youngest in class, and possibly struggle a little with social and academics...or wait until the next year and have them be just a tad older than most the kids in their class to help them with maturity and learning. My dd is not gifted and talented. She is average with academics and social maturity....anyone btdt? How did it turn out? positives vs. negatives?

      - I guess it depends what she thinks should be taught in K. If it's a behavior thing, I'm pretty impressed with the behavior of the kids in my ds's K class. Some of those kids are late-December bdays

- My November ds started K at 4. He loves K, is not at all behind, doesn't struggle. All the November, December kids are doing fine.

- I've never met a parent in real life that regretted holding back. I have met some who regretted not holding back. BUT, you know your child better than anyone, so just try to listen to the mommy phone. Good luck.

- i started first grade at 4 (turned 5 Oct.1). still can't believe my mom and the school let this happen. acadmeically, I was fine. socially? not so much.

That makes no sense, then. She's suggesting that K should start a year later.

I guess it depends what she thinks should be taught in K. If it's a behavior thing, I'm pretty impressed with the behavior of the kids in my ds's K class. Some of those kids are late-December bdays
