  • I find myself losing my patience a lot with older dc now that I have a newborn at home and am constantly tired. I feel awful about it. Is this normal? Will it get better?

    • it's normal but at the same time you have to work on it (get help if you can) because it will foster sibling resentment

      • Same here - 2.5yo dd, 4mo ds. It got worse when I returned to work. I think this post is a bit extreme though. You can't blame yourself for everything. All you can do is that one day they will understand.

        • or: yeah, i think it's totally normal, you just have to try and catch yourself...count to ten and ask yourself if you're really annoyed with dc or just tired, make sure you balance your reaction as best you can

          • OP: Thing is, older dc is totally pushing limits more than ever, so I get frustrated by that. It's all compounded by the lack of sleep, but there's always a "cause." But I like the idea of counting to 10 - I will try that.

        • np: Oh no, it got worse when you went back to work? I have a 2.9 yo ds and a 5 mo dd and will be going back soon. Ds is on my *last* nerve and I was hoping work would help alleviate some of that. And to OP, I feel your pain!
