I don't know your situation but I would seriously focus on the dc you already have for now. Divorce and absentee dad (if that is the case for db #1) is alot for dc to contend with. If things go well and you find someone to share your life with again ma be another dc would be a good idea in the distant future.

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
