  • I have to admit, I once saw a dad catching a big boy spitting on his toddler at the park. When the dad yelled at the kid, spitter kid's mom came screeching over to him because he had no right to discipline her child. Sometimes decisive action is called f for and the 'don't you dare discipline my kid' thing needs to get shelved. That mom should have said, "I'm sorry I wasn't watching more closely, it won't happen again."

    • wrong answer. The dad should have gone to the mother and explained what happened. He had no right to yell at her child.

      • And how exactly was he supposed to go to the mother?

      • so wrong. it's fine to yell at someone else's kid for that sort of behavior when parent is not in sight

      • Wrong. Your right to make a fist ends at the point where it connects with my nose. As soon as a kid is hitting, spitting, throwing sand, a parent steps in first and stops it.

      • You are a loser! If my child were spitting on another I'd be GRATEFUL for another parent to step up and tell her what's what.

      • That teaches children exactly this: "Nobody has the right to tell me what to do except my mom. And if mom isn't looking, all bets are off."

    • I was the OP of the swinging stick (fake) post. I did it because it actually did happen, though no one disciplined that kid, though we all wanted to (he's a nightmare). I'm not sure how I'd feel if someone yelled at my kid, no matter what they did. Tou call.

    • I'd yell at the kid, to say stop spitting on my child. There's no way someone could convince me that was wrong or intrusive. I hope any of you would do it to my ds.

    • I missed the whole post, but were people really freaked out about other people correcting their children? I can see if the dad or mom screamed and yelled, but I think my kid SHOULD learn that other adults around (besides me) will call her on bad or dange dangerous behavior if I miss it. Why keep your kid in a bubble?

      • ITA. We don't live in a place where there are always aunts and second cousins around. Kids miss out on that.

    • I told a kid that if he didn't stop throwing sand at ds's face, I'd tell his mother. "my mom isn't here". little shit. so then I yelled at him. did it again. so then I took his hand and told him in no uncertain terms not to do it again. He was following us around. nobody ever came over.
