UrbanBaby - Should I send my kids to Catholic school...

Should I send my kids to Catholic school? I think they get a better education, they have full day kindergarten and I love the idea of uniform. Tuition is only $3500 per year and I will get a discount for siblings. I was raised Catholic but do not practic e. Will kids need to be baptized and go through sacraments?

        nnp: not that bad. We found a church who has CCD on Sundays for 1 hr and you only need to go one yr (the yr you will make communion)

        oh funny-- that is our parish's name too. We send ds to the school associated with our parish. (Astoria)

- Not required but I would think you would want to if you want to expose them to the religious aspect of Catholic education daily. I am a practicing Catholic btw.

- they don't need to be baptized but non catholics usually pay more tuition. They will do sacraments if you want them too. At my school there were a few jews and they didn't get the sarcraments

  - but....I wouldn't want to be the odd kid at mass not receiving communion. Because they will have to go on Holy days with the class regardless

        above NP-- Iw ould say 50% are really preacticing catholics, many are just there for a decebt education that is affordable. We celebrated Chanukka in my ds's PreK

- np-- I posted just a minute ago on another thread. We are in Queens and are SO happy with our choice of school. It is very different than it was 30 years ago-- and even my dh who DID go 30 years ago thought it was the right choice. I'd be happy to ans r any Qs
