Anyone ahve a baby who lacked oxygen just before delivery. Did they have long term damage? My ds was healthy at birth but I worry about future issues
29 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]my 3.5 yo was a blue baby. umbilical cord around the neck. now, really, couldn't be smarter, happier or funnier. b/c they breathe through the umbilical cord, they can actually go blue for about 10 minutes...not that you want it to happen

I can't tell you how much I worried about this. DD is fine, beautiful, no problems at all.

at the time they sent placenta for testing (it had ripped). When I asked if baby would have damage, he said you can't tell on any baby until they're much older. I worried about every tremory hand--ped has alwasy said baby was growing/developing fine. She is totally fine.

they never called me back, and honestly, I never called them. I was feeling too guilty about whether my baby would have problems. I asked my OB at my six week checkup, and he said if they didn't call you then there wasn't a problem. I know how you'r eeling though. I was really worried and felt like I couldn't share the worry with anyone. Biggest soother to me was hearing stories of babies with low APGAR scores that turned out just fine.

no, but it was a 9 when they did the second one. I hadn't found the sex out prebirth and it took a while for me to even find out what the sex was. I was just so focused on is she okay...

oh yeah--natural childbirth! It was a super fast birth. I was fully dilated before I got to L&D. And the dr. got the baby out super quick when they realized there was an oxygen problem. Much easier to push when the kid can't breathe. Had it not been s quick, they would have done a C, but with a big cut and suction they got the baby out in four or five pushes.

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
