  • had trouble breastfeeding after db was born. everyone kept telling me not to give her any formula so i kept at it, the baby nurse gave her an occasional bottle but now im freaking out that i was starving her those first few weeks. the lc ended up figuring out that (later wheni got the hang of it) db wasnt getting enough milk, even though she seemed satisfied (pooped off and fell asellep, uncurled her hands). i gave up after 2.5 weeks. db is 12 mos now and strong and healthy, but could there be lasting effects from thos first few weeks?

    • I have a 7yo and I truly did starve her bc I wasn't producing enough milk and didn't realize it. It kind of freaks me out to think about any long term damage but I don't sense any in her. I don't sense any obsession with food or anything.

        • I realized when I had the same problem with #2, 2 years later what I had done. The second did not gain weight appropriately but I think the 1st was borderline okay. It's a terrible feeling, I understand.

      • ^^I say that bc my nephew hada hole in his heart and got surgery at 6 wo. They waited a bit to see if it would close up--meanwhile he was not thriving at all, couldn't eat enough etc. Babies are tough.
