  • Anyone have an au pair? Currently have a nanny but she is going back to school for master's degree and considering au pair as an option. Anyone BTDT?

    • I have had both. Au pairs are good as "mother's helpers" or for older kids as wrap-around childcare. I would never again have one for a child younger than about 5yo though. I had a great one, then several really bad experiences. Nannies are also a ri but at least you can meet them to interview; they have US references; and many are older and more mature women. You can get lucky with an au pair but it is such a shot in the dark.
