To parents of kids that my ds bites. He's 19 mo and a biter. Your next kid may be. If you're not having more kids, get over it. We're sorry, but stop looking at me like you want a written apology bc I expect any reasonable parent to understand, and whe ou don't, I may repeat that we're sorry but am thinking you are completely neurotic and clueless. Also, we didn't teach him to bite. Some kids bite, some kids don't, and until they are a little older, there is almost nothing effective to do about it. Try to get off your high horse. To the parents who are cool and understanding, you are awesome. Thanks, that's it.

I see your point but do not agree with your attitude. My first was bitten when she was 10 mos old and I thought it was the most horrible thing in the world. Then my second was a biter. It certainly opened my eyes. The parent must apologize profusely-t he approach of get over it is not good parenting or socializing for anyone.
[ Reply | Options ]OP - should clarify, I totally agree on the shadowing him. We do, but he's quick and we don't fit into tunnels at every park, etc. But we do enough that we must look completely crazy to anyone watching. Yes, he gets a serious "NO BITING" and temporary val from situation. I'm not saying we have no role, I'm just saying we cannot keep our hands over his mouth at all times, so we're sorry but life goes on. Also, he bites me most so I am well aware how it feels.
[ Reply | Options ]it happens. you can't keep him locked in the house all day and even if you watch him like a hawk, it still can happen. sounds like you are doing all the right things and he will likely grow out of it
[ Reply | Options ]so funny - does he bite kids in the tunnels? my dd once bite friends kid on the cheek. i called and said we were on it! that we were sorry (she left a mark). friend was happy i called. worst act of parenting is turning a blind eye. kids can be animals.

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
