  • Ok, I notified owner of need for repairs 3 weeks ago, she responded a week later saying give her some time. I have not heard back, despite several emails. If this continues, would this justify breaking my lease.

      • The dishwasher is broken, part of a window is broken, none of the interior door locks work, two burners on the stove don't work, and just give off gas if they are turned on.

    • send her letter w/ what you need done and history of effort in getting in done - mail it certified, RRR. If you break your lease she will keep your security deposit.

      • That is the other thing, she is clearly having $ trouble - she is 8K behind on common charges. So, we are not paying our last month's rent bc we are fairly certain she doesn't have our 4K if she can't even afford to fix the dishwasher.

    • make certain everything is documented, including pictures (where applicable) of needed repairs. if you want to stay, you can also do the work yourself and subtract it from your rent payments--give her written notice of this, too
